The VS27 delay is on the VA website if you search for flight details. By contrast the VS15 flight on the same day has been brought forward to the original time of the VS27 flight!
I think the issue there is VS15 is the special edition Star Wars flight that they want to leave because it's a themed week holiday. VS15: virginatlantic/fligh...ate=2020-02-15 VS27: virginatlantic/fligh...ate=2020-02-15

Long haul flights are less affected because BA (the airline most affected by this in the UK) takes an operational and commercial decision to cancel short haul rather than long haul flights. The cost of cancelling a long haul is far greater, so as long as it is technically possible for the long haul flights to operate, BA will cancel short haul, usually to/from places with multiple flights per day.
Last weekend there were a number of long haul flights cancelled at LHR in addition to a large number of short haul. They were primarily 747 flights, because when the rain got heavy the conditions (crosswinds) were beyond the safe operating limits for a 747 to take off on a very wet runway. |

Unfortunately crosswinds look like they could be an issue this weekend too, with the wind coming from the South and LHR's runways being East-West (as are LGW's, give or take).

We are leaving Orlando tomorrow night on Aer Lingus then across to Edinburgh from Dublin on Sunday afternoon.
So far on flight stats it looks fine. Edited at 04:05 PM. |
