Universal AP - Am I being really stupid...?

Just looked at buying the Universal 2 park seasonal annual pass with the blockout dates (1-31 July, April 3 – April 18, December 19-31) and with tax it works out to roughly £250... the cheapest 2 week pass I've seen is £265 (for a 3 park pass) so given that I'm going in August, it makes sense to get the annual pass direct from Universal than buying the 2 week pass? We'd only be going to Volcano Bay for one day but if it means the difference between getting this seemingly cheap annual pass or paying more for the 2 week pass I'm willing to leave Volcano bay out!

Am I missing something here?! This seems too good to be true

EDIT: The annual pass i'm looking at is the 2 park one, without Volcano Bay

The AP’s are good value if you are travelling outside the blackout dates.
Another good thing about them is the fact that there is usually a 20% to renew online the following year and sometimes other incentives like 3-6 months extra.
The more expensive AP’s offer either half price or free parking and discounts on merchandise/food, depending on which one you purchase.

Yeah see this time we won't need parking so we wouldn't benefit from that and the seasonal one doesn't have merchandise etc. discounts but I sort of see it as if I'm saving money anyway then the fact that i'm not getting them isn't really an issue

You’re not missing anything. The 2-Park Seasonal Annual Pass is cheaper than the UK 14-day 2-park ticket.

If you’re travelling outside the block out dates and aren’t bothered about visiting Volcano Bay then it’s worth considering.

Also, if you only want 2, 3 or 4 days at the two main Universal parks it’s worth checking out the 2/3/4 day tickets. These are a bit cheaper than the 14-day tickets too.

This is what we are doing. We are going October this year and hopefully August next year. Not bothered about Volcano Bay. Works out at $1299 for 4 of us. For anyone not going next year as well, there is also a deal at the moment for 2 days plus 2 days free £222. Not a lot cheaper than the 14 day ticket but a good deal if you only have 4 days planned in Universal.
