Beamish museum with Covid restrictions?
We are trying to decide if it’s worth going to the Beamish museum next week as we are passing the area. A lot of reviews on trip adviser say it’s not worth it at the moment as much much isn’t open or running, but it’s very busy so lots of queues.
Anyone have any thoughts? It is unlikely we would be back to visit again as we live a long way. Thanks

No info re Beamish but I noticed on your plan you’ve included the Humber Bridge on one of your days. We’ve been down there today and just wanted to make you aware that parking round Hessle Foreshore is limited at the moment due to ongoing flood defence works so you may need to drive around a bit depending on your plans. There is a country park there with a mill and a Chalk Walk if you fancy stretching your legs.

It’s hard isn’t it - it sounds like an amazing place but I’d like to see it all, and not sure it’s worth the money for half an experience!

We went last September and had an amazing time from what I can remember it was only the tram that wasn’t working.

Looking at the website it looks like everything is open apart from the tram but they are operating the buses.
It’s a fantastic museum. I would go if it’s unlikely you will get back up here again. Take a picnic as the food options are always busy and expensive. It is walkable if the buses are busy but it’s set on a hill. However reading your trip report it sounds like you are all ok with a walk.

We went yesterday.
If you’ve never been, it’s still a great day out, especially if the weather is nice. But having been a few times before we noticed lots of things closed/unavailable. The fun fair is only half open, one way systems, queuing and unable to view the rooms. The school was a great experience last time, now just a walk through corridor, queuing to view. We will go back, but next year, hopefully when more things are open. On a positive, the COVID measures were great, lots of sanitation stations, signs, one ways, mask wearing, limits on numbers but I feel some of the magic was gone.

I live near beamish, and I say even with covid it's well worth it. They are opening new areas constantly and even just the experience of walking around the different parts is interesting. There aren't many restrictions left in place there now and the large majority of experiences can be taken fully.
Hope this helps |
