An alternative, especially on the way home, is rub/wipe the last remnants of soap from the hotel room aggressively on the case to mark it, won’t do any permanent damage, gives it a unique pattern that’s easy to spot and will simply wipe off
We do this every holiday we have, nothing specific just a random pattern, it works |

We have a huge assortment of Kipling soft luggage some of which is close to 20 years old strong and washable we love it.
Our hard cases are samsonite again I bought one 20 years ago and only replaced as with a child we wanted a spinner wheel system rather than the drag along, I made the mistake of buying a cheaper option ($100 for large) zip broke on our second trip so bought new set of samsonite. Over time more expensive luggage becomes better value |
