I've just had a mad moment and booked hotels in Florida for next Sept/Oct - both are on free cancellation, so we'll need to decide before any flights are booked. Hoping that because it's the 50th anniversary, things might start to improve in the parks - we don't mind masks but not greatly reduced entertainment etc.

It was my birthday last Tuesday, obviously a very low key one due to Wales being in a fire break. I couldn’t see the children, go for a meal or a day out and DH was afternoon shift so I was home alone most of the day. I’m used to my birthday involving meals out, theatre trips and holidays so I wasn’t looking forward to this one

However it was better than I thought as all my children and their partners spent time throughout the day keeping in touch. DH had bought me a coffee machine but also surprised me with a red velvet cake. One of our sons posted a huge box (the postage must have cost as much as the gift ) with gin, gin glass and a fruit bowl to match my new kitchen. I also had lots of wishes from many friends through the day (and many Dibbers) Then some friends joined me virtually for a drink and we watched Great British Bake Off whilst sharing a drink together. Definitely a different birthday experience 😂

I’m very grateful to have such a caring family and good friends. Thanks to the Dibb friends who celebrated with me too 💞

Nooooooooo! No bedroom furniture will be delivered now! Was due the 10th after a nearly 4 month wait - I hope we have it before Xmas
Luckily the carpet fitters are coming on Monday, so at least that will be done.

My other news is that we've volunteered for the Novavax drug trial for a covid vaccine. It's the first one to reach phase 3 testing and our local Trust are one of the research teams involved. We started on Monday with bloods for antibody testing, covid test, obs and medical screening before getting our first vaccination. I feel perfectly normal (don't know if we got placebo or drug) and we go back in a few weeks for round 2 vaccine, then another 4 times over a year for bloods etc each time.

My new mattress came today. 2 years of it being uncomfortable, 4 months of waiting for the new one after it had been ordered.
I am in heaven.
