A cheese-and-pineapple hedgehog would signify, to me at least, that the host had pushed the boat out and made a special effort.

I thought it was illegal to have a party without cheese and pineapple!

Growing up we always had a mix of either: cheese & pineapple, cheese & a little pickle, cheese & party sausage or party sausage & pickle.
Then vol au vents stuffed with prawn cocktail or this mushroom sauce thing.

I could actually do a 70’s buffet 😃

All this meal needs is a sumptuous Black Forest Gateau to finish it off.

Oh, and some fine wine (Black Tower and Blue Nun) to wash it all down with.
