Mobile BA - Gatwick to Tampa

Hi all, we’ve rebooked our September holiday to May next year. After dithering about, the new flights had gone up by £180! This was to MCO. We have booked to go to Tampa instead. This was £1580 for 4 flights with E class suv.

What is Tampa airport like? How long has it taken to get to Disney? Thank you

we much prefer tampa airport - much smaller, less queues

takes approx 1-1/2 hours to disney depending on traffic but not a bad drive

xx

Tampa is usually very quick to get through
You come right out the airport and basically follow the signs for the I4 and Orlando it’s an easy drive and now tolls
Should take you about an hour as a half depending on what time you hit the Road
We are Gatwick to Tampa in November
Food choice airside is not great and leave more time for return journey if a big sports event is on in Tampa

We loved it and the kids loved the food. We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe and its another hurricane glass for my collections and the kids had Wendy's and Chic Fil A. Every teens dream.

Easy drive and literally no immigration queues.

It’s a lovely airport, very easy to navigate and get around. Immigration was fairly quick, but who knows the impact of C19 on that one! From my photos, we picked the car up at 5.20, and drove under the disney arch at 6.36pm, so just over an hour with no stops, this was a Sunday afternoon in October. Really easy drive with barely any traffic. Would fly from there again no problem.

As others have said Tampa is easy to navigate and with reasonably short immigration queues, we were supposed to use it last month but our holiday was cancelled so heading back there next year 👍

Tampa has always been really easy for us, so much quicker than MCO, have always managed to get a decent car upgrade for free as well, last time we paid for an intermediate and got given a full size SUV.
Just make sure you get your bearings on the way out of the airport, the first time i left the directions to my girlfriend and we ended up on the bridge to clearwater, which means no turning around for about 10 miles!
If its cheaper to go to Tampa i would say its a win win.

Tampa is a much better airport than MCO, Last time we went to Tampa, we were through immigration, got the car, drove to the villa in Kissimmee and were in the pool, quicker than it took us to get through immigration in MCO the previous year

This is what I fully intended to do next year but putting on hold until 2022 due to finances. My only concern would be about the rumours of BA pulling out of LGW. Will the Tampa route go to Heathrow if this happens? I hope there is a demand as its a cheaper alternative to MCO.

Once you've flown to Tampa, you will never want to go back to MCO! Our airport of choice every time.
