Quote for replacing a fence

Some advice please. My fence needs replacing between my garden and my neighbours. Damaged in the winds a few weeks ago. They wanted to get a quote from a company they know, to get me a discount.

This is the quote - for 6 panels. Does it seem a fair price ? (Seems a bit much to me )

Thanks as always

Linda

We've just had our fence replaced after the storms earlier this year. We had ours done - 9 panels - just over £900 which also included some repairs to our other fence that price does seem high to me.

Seems a bit high to me also. Last year we had a rickety old wooden fence replaced with concrete posts and gravel boards as described in the quote above and we paid £650. (This was for 6 fence panels also)

We are in the Midlands if it makes any difference.

Assume it includes all the labour? and a skip?- (are they taking away the rubbish)
Notice they are installing concrete posts?- as this involves digging out and obviously concreting in?- have they said how long it would take?

That does seem a bit steep - we had the equivalent of 14 panels replaced with close boarding, concrete posts, wooden gravel boards for £1400 about 3 years ago. Where are you as that makes a difference? That was Hampshire. We have just had a quote for our new house in Wiltshire. He has given me a price per metre for close board which I will look up when I get home.

I’m planning to get a couple of quotes myself. Thing is we are a prime commuter town for London, bound to be more expensive. 🙄

That is expensive but I suppose it depends on where you are

I would ask him to break it down : ie labour, size of panels etc as that would suggests he's going to use 5 ft panels for a finish height of 6ft

We bought our one side from a wood merchant which cost more than the other side which is Screwfix and you definately get what you pay for the Screwfix ones are pants

Me and DH did ours together the Screwfix ones were £200 for 7 panels but the posts were already there
The wood merchant (8)panels with concrete gravel boards and posts and panels were about £575

depends on locale & worth noting a skip alone off street is £200 (£250 with permit on street) up here

as always get 3 quotes and take it from there

We're Essex / London borders. Had ours fully replaced with 7 x 6ft panels including new concrete posts and gravel boards. Was £590 but that was a few years ago.
