Family Fun in the Sun - Day 31 Aquatica

Day 31 – Aquatica Monday August17th 2009

We decided to have a quiet morning today and head off for Aquatica in the afternoon. So at 12.30pm we set off stopping at Wendy’s for lunch, we’d never been here before and we really enjoyed it. For some reason though it took us a while to eat lunch and we didn’t get to aquatica until 2pm, it was heaving in the car park and full to bursting in the park with all the slides having huge queues.

We managed to find a lounger and 2 chairs and the girls and Scott went straight into the crazy river for an hour or so. As it was sooo busy the girls hopped between the crazy river and the kid pool for the next 3 hours, the park started to empty out at around 5.30pm and by 6pm the lines were at a passable level and I was conned onto going on a ride – Walhalla wave I think it was, I told Hannah and Lauren I’d go on with Scott and Jess first and then ride with them straight after – they were very excited as mum very rarely goes on water slides (I have a fear of falling over the edge half way down – daft and completely irrational I know). Well I didn’t enjoy it all as it threw us all over the place and I was petrified, Hannah and Lauren were waiting at the bottom and knew straight away I hadn’t enjoyed it and both said it was fine I didn’t have to ride it again – but I’d promised and like a good mum I trooped back up the stairs and gingerly stepped into the raft again. It was better the second time as the raft didn’t go up the sides as much and I kind of knew what to expect, but I refused a third time and said maybe another day, I probably would do this again but will still be worried.

After this is was back to crazy river and wave pool for a while, we called it a day at about 7pm, went home and ate bbq for tea, the girls watched a couple of hours of Disney Channel, Scott watched Saw 5 (I don’t do horror movies) and I watched the news and weather and caught up on my trip reports.
