What is slightly different about MCO is the way the airport is designed - it has a central hub (the terminal) with 4 satellite buildings connected to it. You land at one of the satellites and you need to get to the hub.
After Immigration once you have picked up your cases and cleared customs you leave the hall. You immediately have a choice - either to hand your cases over for them to be transported to the hub (independently of your party) or to take the cases with you on the train that transports people to the hub. By taking the latter choice you avoid picking your cases up for a second time at the carousel in the main terminal. I would recommend going on the train with your cases as it saves time when you arrive in the main terminal but it all depends on how many cases you have with you whether this would be feasible. |

Just to endorse- it really is a lot easier than it sounds! You are from my neck of the woods so if you think of Sanford as Speke (before it was refurbished to JLA) and MCO is more Manchester. If you can take your cases on the escalator and mono rail it does save a bit of time- however if you are travelling with buggies, a wheelchair or uncooperative family(!) you need to drop your bags and collect them after the monorail- they come out on their own little carousel right by the Virgin holidays desk downstairs in the car hire bit.
On the return journey you just check in and the bags are taken over. There's loads more shops and cafes than Sanford- I usually have to squeeze in a last Krispy Kreme before we return! |

Have a lovely time, and don't forget, anything you forget to pack, you can buy it in Florida.
