Chessington

As we couldn’t go to Disney spent the last day of the summer holidays at Chessington. I forget how rubbish it really is and how it’s the little things that Disney do so well that make iall the difference. Oh well hopefully I’ll remember not to bother next time!

We went last year and said we wouldn’t go again unless it changed. It’s tired and needs investment in the park.

Oh dear I feel your pain 😢once you’ve been to Disney all other parks are definitely not on the same level 😉

Yep, I can't stand UK theme parks, way too busy, rubbish overpriced food, massive queues and overflowing bins. Used to have Merlin Passes but got rid of them ages ago, would rather save my money!

Problem with Chessington is unless you have an annual pass that you got through Tesco club card it’s not worth going! They have the whole winter to re paint and do up all the rides and areas but it never seems to get done ... Disney is in a league of its own .

We live about 30 mins away so will pop along for a couple of hours at least once a week as my special needs daughter loves the feeling of being on roller coasters but even she says my it’s not Disney is it! Talk about spoilt!

Feel a bit sorry for Chessington , it is a bit tired but they don’t have the money that Disney do.
I think during winter months it’s more up keep if the rides rather than cosmetics .
They have pumped some money into their existing rides and they are looking much better now but it’ll never be on par with Disney.
I’ve been going to Chessington since I was about 5 so I have seen it go up and down .
I do agree about the food though but again, it’s standard British theme park food . The fish and chips is pretty good though .

Exactly how I feel about Thorpe Park. Only live 15 mins away from it but haven’t been for a couple of years. I hate it there!

The thing is I can't stand is the opening hours. It's hardly a full day. At best a 10am opening until about 6pm.

Me and my family love Chessington. I get it’s not like Disney and I don’t really feel they are comparable because with Disney it’s not just about the rides, but parades, character meets and fireworks. I’ve always told myself to never compare anything to Disney. We enjoy the rides at Chessington but as annual pass members we don’t need to spend the whole day there so the opening hours don’t bother us. Yes the upkeep isn’t great, but we just enjoy it for what it is, plus I enjoy the small zoo as I love animals.

I remember it as just a zoo! The old routemaster buses went there and we would lean out as it went round the corner for the bus stop

Different times with safety then
