Anything else she can try? (Uti) *update*

sorry for the tmi but my mum has has an uti for a while now.
Shes just finished the 2nd set of antibiotics and its come back again.
She rang the doctors surgery but can't get a call back untill Friday! 😡

I've suggested cranberry juice and also its says about yakult type drinks.
Anything else that might help her? 🤞

Unsweetened cranberry juice. Doesn’t taste great but works wonders

Drink water to clear it, I get cystitis feelings when I don’t drink enough water, I used to have lots of antibiotics which them give you thrush and cause the same sort of feeling. If she drinks a lot and it doesn’t clear up you need to see the gp again. Cranberry juice is more of a preventative than cure I found, there are also sachets you can buy in the chemist. Hope she feels better soon xx

Has she tried D-Mannose? I found this helpful after my hysterectomy and I know a lot of other ladies have used it with good results x

Hi rasmus, are they taking a sample from her or just giving a broad spectrum antibiotic? She really needs to give a sample for analysis so that she can have exactly the right antibiotic. Hope she is ok x

After long term antibiotics my consultant recommended Cysticlean which I have ordered from Amazon on a few occasions. I'll be honest I haven't taken lots because the antibiotics I took seem to have kept infections away but might be worth a try.

I get cystitis sachets in the pink box in Sainsbury’s and at the first sign take the recommended dose and it usually stops it in its tracks

It's dreadful that she has to wait until Friday. I think I would be pushing for treatment before then as a sample will take a few days to culture and identify so with that she may not be getting treatment for a good week or so yet.

I don't want to spread alarm but one if the symptoms of my mum's ovarian cancer was what she thought of as UTIs. I hate being this person and she had other symptoms too, sadly the GP didn't connect them.
I assume she has been down the cymalon route
