Our 'one last time' trip- October 2018 - Day 16 - Day at Sea

I was up early at 6.45 – I hadn’t had the best night sleep the aircon in the room seemed really noisy and I was aware I was in an unfamiliar place. The kids however, slept fine. Dan had been panicking about how much the ship was moving but none of us had felt anything. The advantage of being up early was watching the sunrise. It was so relaxing to wake in your bed and see nothing but sea – I was glad we had booked an ocean view room.

Leah got up about 7.30 and read for a bit – at about half 8 she had wanted a drink so we got dressed and headed up to the Windjammer to grab a juice and brought a coffee back for Dan. When we got back him and Ellie were awake so they got dressed and we headed for breakfast. I had a couple of pastries and a pancake, Dan had a fry up (or the American version), Leah had a smaller fry up and Ellie had fruit loops. Both the girls had loads of melon too.

Once we were done we had already got our swim stuff on so headed straight to the pool. The only loungers free were in the shade so we grabbed them and kept an eye out for any sunny ones. There were a few clouds around but it was still warm so I was hopefully the weather would stay nice.

Leah read while me and Ellie got in the pool and Dan headed to Starbucks. When he came back he had got me a beach bag I had seen yesterday I liked. It was cream with gold flamingos on. Leah got in with us after a while but it was a salt water pool and kept going in her mouth so she was happier reading. Ellie got out at about 11 luckily because not long after someone was sick in the pool. They drained the whole pool and cleaned it – but it meant people left and some loungers in the sun became free! Yay!

We moved our stuff quickly and I could finally soak up some rays after grabbing the girls an ice cream. Dan got a Gin and Tonic and I got a pineapple cocktail – it was delicious but didn't taste like it had alcohol in at all!

The pool took ages to fill up so Dan went and grabbed a few plates of food from the Windjammer and brought them out for us to share. I was asleep by this point – it was absolutely bliss to just stop and relax after a busy two weeks and I did not move from that sun lounger for hours! Once they had finished eating he took the girls to watch the belly flop competition while I made some trip notes. I could hear it from my lounger and it sounded like good fun - I kept telling Dan he should sign up.

When it had finished Dan took Ellie in the whirlpool while Leah went back to her book. The pool then finally reopened! Leah didn’t want to get in but Dan and Ellie got in for a while. I asked Leah if she wanted to go for a walk and she did so we went down to the shops to see if I could find any toothpaste as we were nearly out but no luck! On the way back we stopped to grab a couple of cookies from the Windjammer for a snack.

By the time we got back to the pool Ellie was ready to get out so we went via the arcade back to our room to see if we could get her to nap. They tossed and turned and Ellie fell asleep about 4 but in the end I let Leah watch her drawing programme again. Dan fell asleep too.

While they were sleeping I got me and Leah ready and woke Ellie and Dan about 5 so we could head down to play Harry Potter Trivia before dinner. Leah was in her element doing this! We got 15/19 and unfortunately didn’t win. It was a little bit early for dinner but we headed to the restaurant anyway and took some pictures outside on the deck. The sunset looked so pretty tonight.

We headed in to our table and as soon as we sat down the kids and my drink was brought over along with a fruit salad for them and the bread rolls

They both wanted a fruit salad for starter as well so Lenson brought out some more grapes for them while we had ours. I haven’t made very detailed notes on what we ate tonight - but I did remember to take pictures.

Dan had some beef for starters

& Lenson also brought out a seafood vol a vant as he said it was a must try! (I don’t eat seafood so this one was down to Dan to finish)

followed by pork

and then carrot cake for pudding

I had ceasar salad

roasted chicken breast

and carrot cake as well. As we had both picked the same dessert he brought out a cake dessert with fruit as well. I shared this with him though!

Leah had Steak for her main (no picture ) and Banana split

and Ellie had chicken fingers and cookies.

The food was delicious again and service was incredible. Dishes were brought quickly and the kids always had something in front of them – as soon as there drinks were finished they were refilled. Before me and Dan had even finished a fresh one would be brought to us.

In between courses we played I-spy on teams – me and Ellie vs Dan and Leah and there were no arguments for a change. It was a really lovely atmosphere and a really enjoyable meal.

As soon as we were finished the kids wanted to go to kids club so we dropped them in and popped to the casino for a bit. Once I was bored, I’m sure Dan could have spent hours in there we walked to the main centrum where a band was playing and the captain came out to do a speech. He looked like Daniel Craig! We listened to it for a bit and then went and mooched in the shops.

We finally found some toothpaste – it was $7! But I suppose they know you aren’t going to be able to buy it anywhere else! We walked back to the pool deck and grabbed a cup of tea and sat and watched some of Mamma Mia 2. Today had been exactly what we needed a day of doing nothing! Despite a cloudy start the weather had turned out perfect. We grabbed the girls about 9 again, got another drink and headed back to the room. Dan watched some programmes on his tablet and I wrote some trip notes.

My alarm was set for 6.30 for our first stop at Nassau!
