Borrowing
I am out of the loop on DVC at the moment. I remember hearing something last year about only being allowed to borrow 50% of points -is this still the case?
I am looking at booking in August for July 2022. I have points in my 2020 use year to use and then new points in December (my use year). Can I only use 50% of these when I book? And then wait to book the rest in December when those points become available? Thanks in advance for any help/clarification. |

You can bank all of your Dec 20 points into Dec 21. This would give you the ability to book with all Dec 20, all Dec 21 and 50% of Dec 22 points for your trip.

Thank you 😊
I have some left over 2019 points banked in to Dec 2020 use year. So I can use all of these when I book in August and borrow 50% of Dec 2021. Then in Dec 2021 add on to the booking with those points. Every time I get so confused with banking and borrowing 🙄 |

Err no. Your banked 2019 points will expire unless you use them by 30th November 2021.
You can make your reservation for July 22 in August 21 as you said but you will have access to any banked Dec 20 plus all Dec 21 points (plus 50% of Dec 22 ) as the reservation falls into that use year. |

Oh no I have this all wrong then. When you say use, do you mean booked or use the accommodation booked.
My points are - Dec 2020 - 150 points + 49 banked points from 2019 = 199 Dec 2021 - 150 points I want to travel in July 2022 (book in Aug 2021) I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this to me. Thank you |

The dates always relate to when you are actually using the accommodation. Not when you book.

Banked point can only be used in the year they are banked into your 2019 points must be used in that use year.

Used as in the stay is over and you've checked out
The 49 points must be used by 30th November 2021. The 150 Dec 2020 points must be banked into Dec 2021 by 31st July 2021 to use them for the reservation in July 22 you are planning. The 150 December 2021 points are already in the right year to use them for the reservation in July 22 you are planning. You could borrow up to 75 (50%) of Dec 2022's points if you need to for the July 2022 trip. The date you book the trip only matters for 11 month resort priority - the date of the trip is what matters for the point usage. Happy to help, |

Points banked into Dec 2020 - nov 21 will need to be used by Nov 21. As in you will need to travel before then.
You can’t bank those 49 points again. You can bank the 150, plus use the current 150 and borrow another 75. So you have 375 available for the trip. Plus you could rent out those 49 to get some spending money. |

Thank you so much guys 👍 off to rent some points.
One final question (I hope and I know you do ) or confirmation if you don’t mind. Bank my 150 from Dec 2020 in to Dec 2021 now. Then when I book in August 2021 I can use the points in the Dec 2021 (150+150) use year and borrow the 50% from Dec 22 use year to book a holiday for July 22. It doesn’t matter that I haven’t got any points available, so to speak in my head, at that point of making the booking as I will have them for when the holiday is. I am probably making this far to complicated for myself. Thank you. Dr.jumbajookiba, Bevs97 and Keith1973 🙏 |
