Do you say January because of the next mask review for the US while flying?

Some of the posts on here (intended or unintended) come across conveying somewhat of a 1930s Germany authoritarian clampdown. It’s easy to forget we are talking about young children, toddlers in many cases here who won’t even be potty trained, have no social skills and expected to act like a fully grown adult.

If an element of common sense isn’t applied to that kind of situation then the lunatics are definitely running the asylum.
1930s Germany authoritative clampdown? !

I haven’t read one single post that comes anywhere near that. Hyperbole much?

I think everyone should just plan to follow the law. If a child won’t or can’t, ok, then handle it or accept whatever comes.

Not really. My youngest absolutely hated being in her carseat but that wasn't optional either. A light piece of cloth that children have seen many people wearing for months is hardly a muzzle IMO.

I see very young children wearing masks in stores etc regularly and especially indoors at Disney. I haven't noticed a single one in distress about it.

My own experience of this, being on our second trip to Orlando in the past 3 months and having been on 8 flights - 6 of them completely full flights to or within the US - is that everyone is accepting of the rules and just getting on with it. I’ve not seen any signs of dissent from adults or young kids in distress.

The difference is children that young don’t need to wear it here so aren’t use to it. As I suggested much earlier on in this thread I think it all comes to to practice. US kids have been doing it since day 1 so it is much less of an issue for them, and people like the trackers have been training there kid before hand before it is required. Wearing it in a Disney store for a very short period of time is also very different to what is probably going to be 10+ hours with changing the mask a few times as well.

On the longer flights there are plenty of opportunities to remove the masks for meals, drinks, snacks, ice cream. It almost feels like the crew know you need a rest from it every so often so keep you we’ll fed and watered.

Kids in the Uk should have been wearing them from the start, none of this 11 and over nonsense, then we wouldn't be having this discussion

No they shouldn’t at all. And 2 year olds aren’t kids. They are toddlers.

The problem is that children don't tend to be very consistent, especially toddlers. One minute they may be happy to wear a mask and the next they may refuse and have a complete meltdown over it.

I get that the law states over 2 etc but the reality is that cabin crew are going to have to try and enforce this law on basically babies. I wish them luck and I hope common sense prevails.

Neighbour works for aerlingus.
She has said under 12s will not be required to wear masks on the flight. We are travelling from Dublin in November
