Tina what a fantastic morning in Marseille, your photos are amazing! It must have been wonderful to explore at your own leisure. 😍 Dinner looked delicious and just perfect that you were able to fit in a dessert too! You really have hit your holiday stride, partying til midnight. I love it! 🥳🩷 xx

Marseille surprised me, I hadn't expected a lot and at one stage it looked like the port stop would be replaced because of the riots/protests a few months ago. It turned out to be my favorite port this trip 🥰

Party animal me 🤣 luckily we didn't have early plans the following morning. I have to remember I'm 50 now 🙈

Your trip is flying in Michelle, only 3 weeks to go 🤗 excitement will be kicking in soon ❤️ xx

Day 8 - Genoa

We didn't plan a lot for today so we had a lazy morning sitting out on the balcony. We had tea/coffee and sandwiches from the International Cafe then made our way off the ship.

I wasn't a fan of the port area here, seemed a bit run down/ gritty. We crossed the street to the Principe subway station and got off at De Ferrari. It's free to ride the subway at off peak times here and it was easy to use.

Piazza De Ferrari

San Lorenzo Cathedral

Christopher Columbus House

We wandered down the narrow lanes of Via Giuseppe, got a bit lost but it was fun.

Stopped for some juice and coffee in a quirky little cafe.

We felt we had enough for today so we got the subway back and enjoyed the almost empty ship, played some mini golf and had a Truly berry seltzer.

Genoa port

We were feeling hungry as we didn't have lunch after having a late breakfast and we were too early for the MDR so we went to Gigi's pizzeria. I had a salad & tuna baguette and Gary had soup & peperoni pizza, all good.

We saw a comedian in the main Theatre, he was quite funny. The comedian in June was so bad we actually couldn't wait to get out of there

Afterwards we went to Take Five for some Jazz. We popped in here most nights, these guys were really good.

It was still early but felt we had enough for tonight so we went on top deck for movies under the stars. I can't remember the name of the movie, I wasn't totally engaged, WhatsApp-ing DD's but Tom Holland was in it.

At night they put cushions on the loungers and you can help yourself to blankets, it's really chill

We were getting a bit peckish so we went back to International Cafe. I think Gary had cheese or ham and I had this lovely egg sandwich, we took these with tea/coffee to the balcony before having an early night about 11pm

Tina you really did see some stunning buildings and architecture, I’m sorry the port wasn’t your favourite. Lots of yummy snacks and I love that they set up the pool area to watch movies. Good to see you had an early night. 😆😉🩷 xxx

DS docked at Genoa last month - they weren't particularly impressed either, I might look at excursions for this port.
Take 5 is one of our 'go to's' for an after dinner drink too.

I'm glad we're not the only ones who aren't fans of this port.

The band in Take Five are always great but we found a little inconsistency with drinks here. You order something really nice one night then order it again another night and it would taste completely different.

We still had a good day but if we ever returned to this port we would probably just stay onboard and enjoy a quiet ship. Excursions were either local stuff you could do yourself or long bus trips which I'm not a fan of.

I think I needed that early night 🙈 I was good to go though the next couple of night 🥰 xx

Day 9 - Livorno (Florence/Pisa)

We ate breakfast at the buffet and made our way off the ship. You need to take a bus from the ship as it's a working port. Princess provides this FOC, last year NCL charged €5 each. The bus drops you in the centre of Livorno.

We had a tour/transport booked with Tuscany Bus to Pisa. They have representatives at the cruise shuttle stop to guide you to the correct bus or sell you tickets if not pre-booked. We used them previously and all was good.

It's about 45-50 mins drive to Pisa, we were given clear instructions on where/when to meet back for the return. The walk to Piazza dei Miracoli is 10-15 mins.

We just mooched around enjoying the nice weather and taking photos of the Leaning Tower.

We strolled up Via Santa Maria and had some lunch. We shared a pizza and some beers.

We popped into some shops and looked around the markets and walked back to meet our bus. All on time and we were back in Livorno about 3-3:30pm. We were in port until 7pm, we thought about wandering around town but decided to get back to the ship and start our packing

Sticking with the Italian theme we had dinner at Sabatini's tonight, it was all delicious.

Ribollita Tuscan soup

Burrata Caprese

Lobster tortelloni

We saw Rock Opera in the Theatre and had our last wander around the bars and venues. We finished off with our favorite entertainer David T in Crown Grill bar.

Lovey guy, he chatted with us most nights after his set.

Had our last evening nightcap on the balcony
