What are Bao buns and what do you do with them?

As the title really, had never heard of them until mentioned on here.

They are light doughy rolls almost. They are Chinese I think. You fill them with chicken or beef or anything really and some pickled veg. We use a kit but it’s changed recently and once we have used the last one we have we probably won’t use again. You can buy them ready made to fill in marks and Spencer’s.

We use this one

I have to say that they are very tasty. The best ones we have had were in a place called Fat Choys in Vegas.

They are on offer in Tesco this week, still a bit expensive but we love them. You wrap them in a paper bag and put them in the oven to steam them.
Not as good as the buns from Food and Wine though, where we first tried them

I noticed in our Morrison’s the other day they had packs of just buns in the freezer section.
I always describe them as a dough equivalent of candy floss for texture.
