Right... now listen here, get the tree , put a 100 greatest ever Christmas songs on the tv ,loud, and sing your head off to it while dancing round the room with the DH ( he wants the tree up so he has to help)
A glass of sherry and a mince pie as you go.
Works for me everytime

I’m really feeling down at the moment and as far as I’m concerned Christmas can just come and go.
I’ve got all the presents for the grandchildren piled up in the dining room and I feel the same about wrapping them.
We’ve been invited to our sons for Christmas Day and for a couple of reasons I’m not going into on here I don’t want to go I’d rather stay home.
We get on really well with our DIL and I know they’ll be disappointed if we don’t go
Sorry for the moaning if you’ve managed to get this far but I just don’t know how to snap out of this.
Does anyone else feel like this?
I think many of us feel like this, we are not bothering with a tree as no one is visiting us, we usually get a real one so will save £40 which we are spending on a Xmas Day meal out
Booked it last night, but I just hope others will book the restaurant otherwise I could be running around for a Turkey Xmas Eve
I’m sure your son & DIL will understand your feelings, I would love an invite to see my son & DGD’s on Xmas Day, unfortunately not as it’s all about her family

Take care 💕💕xxx

Don’t want you to feel I meant you - especially if you are struggling just now. I was actually agreeing with you.
Don’t think that was me so don’t feel guilty 😀

I felt like I couldn’t be bothered but I did it anyway, put tree up and lights everywhere and have gone ott. Wrapped half my presents and will do five every evening till I get there. I feel so much better, fake it till you make it.
I think if you do some wrapping and decorating you will feel better ❤️

You sound like me , I’m not putting our tree up, it’s quite a big one with hundreds of disney ornaments that are all individually wrapped, everything in the loft and when ds said they weren’t coming because of covid which I agree with just felt what is the point it’s just us

My mum died last year and Xmas just now isn’t the same

Yes I feel exactly the same, can’t be bothered with anything. Can’t even muster up any excitement re the vaccine.

I thought booking flights the other day would snap me out of it but it hasn’t, if anything I’m worse

If I could sleep through the day I would but it's not fair on James so I'll have to put my big girl pants on and brave it 💔❤️

Fake it til you make it is the approach I am going to have to take too.

OP you are most definitely not on your own feeling like this. I am not full of the festive spirit either. Have deliberately had head in the sand but that's not going to make it go away.

You are much further ahead then me. You have presents sorted 👍

Nadolig Llawen I chi from the "other" Welsh dibber 😉

Such a horrible pants year for everyone and Christmas won't be for many what it normally is.

I love our deccies up normally but really struggled to get motivated this year. DH was keener than me.

We started putting deccies up last weekend and rather than knocking ourselves out getting them all sorted in a rush, we've done a few bits everyday and still not totally finished.

I guess we've both been stuck here for so many months looking at the same house and walls and it's just lifted us both to be able to put some deccies up.

As hard as it was to get motivated I'm glad I did it.

But to put things into perspective for me, I was diagnosed with breast cancer late Nov 2018. My first chemo was 3 Dec that year. I got sepsis and was in hospital for two weeks and came out at tea time on Xmas Eve that year. I had treatment all through 2019 and DH and I just had a very quiet Xmas that year again on our own.

I really wanted a great special year this year, including Christmas with all our families but that's all gone by the by!

But our deccies are up and it's lifted it us both.
