Five Go On A Culinary Caper - Day 3
The Crystal Palace Breakfast We had an 8.05am for Crystal Palace this morning. We were allowed into the Magic Kingdom at 7.40 and we made or way up a not particularly empty Main Street to the restaurant. We were about the 7th family to be called into the restaurant. Our server was nice and gave us autograph cards from the characters as they no longer sign autograph books. ☹️ My kids were disappointed about this as they are collecting autographs on picture mounts rather than in books so we can frame some pictures for them when they get home. Anyway the characters came to our table very quickly and were happy to spend time taking different photos, we were warned that not to miss them as it could take a long time for them to come back as it was we saw each character numerous times during the meal. We really enjoyed the buffet, we felt that the quality had improved a lot in the last couple of years and we all would happily go back again during the holiday if credits and reservations would allow. Some buffet photos Some of our plates Hubby's comment " smoked salmon, breakfast pizza, steak omelette and two types of sausage for breakfast, what a country! " As you can tell he was very happy with the options available. We left full and happy. We spent the morning in Magic Kingdom and enjoyed some drinks. Frozen lemonade The Boathouse We visited Disney Springs in its new form for the first time this evening, our dinner was at the Boathouse. Hubby had had his eye on steak oscar style for many months and tonight was the night! I'd read mixed reviews of the restaurant so wasn't sure what we would find. We checked in and were shown straight to our table we were immediately given water and lovely warm bread rolls. (The kids loved these!) Our server took us through the menu and suggested that we pay for kids options and not use credits. Starters Firecracker Shrimp - Sriracha mayo, serrano chilis and sweet peppers BOATHOUSE Pimento Cheese - mixed vegetable pickles, white corn tortilla chips Mains Filet Mignon - 8 ounce Filet Mignon Oscar Style - 8 ounce, jumbo lump crab, asparagus, Bearnaise Both steaks were fantastic, well cooked and and presented Spring Vegetables & Cavatappi Pasta - English peas, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, red pepper, zucchini and garlic butter-wine sauce This was nice, it had a really good flavour and lots of vegetables Crispy Panko-Fried Gulf Catch of the Day - with fresh cut fries and tartar sauce and lemon served in a dockside bucket Blue Star Angus Cheese Burger Youngest loved the car it came in! Desserts We shared between all of us. Key Lime Pie in a Mason Jar - vanilla bean chantilly cream Double Chocolate Bundt Cake - vanilla ice cream, raspberry coulis, Valrhona fudge sauce This was a nice bitter chocolate cake. The sauce worked really well with it. NY Style Blueberry Cheesecake - graham cracker crust, cinnamon crumb topping This was amazing, it was very rich but so good. The cinnamon crunch topping was a great addition. This turned out to be the best meal we've had yet. Great service and fabulous food. We were really glad we had tried it. I understand that for two credits unless you're going to have steak or lobster then it makes it not great value, we would however visit again. I'm sorry I haven't been able to reply to comments yet I do appreciate them. We've got a quieter day on Thursday so hopefully I'll catch up then. Thanks for reading x |

Those steaks look delicious - I'd definitely go for the Oscar style steak. Puddings look lovely too.
