Car hire and hotel booking ebookers

Hi have been looking at car hire for next may and prices are silly. Looking on ebookers if you add a car to any hotel booking it adds nothing to price until you pick a higher grade car. Does this mean you have to pay extra for insurance when picking the car up. Can't see much info on insurance in the terms it has "The total price includes all mandatory taxes, fees and insurance."Budget was the hire company. Anyone got any idea or have you used this before

I had a quick look, I agree it's not clear, there isn't any mention of what type of insurance you get, I'd assume if they are offering free car hire then you need insurance on top.

I contacted ebookers and they said all compulsory insurance is included and an option to buy excess insurance at pickup. Sounds good but I'm still unsure.

I would be very wary of buying any extra insurance ‘over the desk’. The desks are hardly renowned for honesty and transparency to the extent that when I collect a car, I actually write ‘I have taken no extras or upgrades in addition to what I booked prior to arrival’.

I think we are well aware of the cost of upgrading insurance on a basic Virgin car hire (more than the cost of booking the whole lot elsewhere) and this could be a similarly deceptive scam.

I want to know EXACTLY what the cost of my car hire is and at the time I book it. That is how I decide which offering represents the best deal.

I use ebookers a lot and recommend them on Hotel Hire, having had previous, excellent service in the face of the pandemic as well as before. I wouldn’t personally touch this, though.

I have in addition, lately avoided MCO car pick ups, preferring to Taxi or Uber onto IDrive first evening, a Universal Deluxe next night and then a pick up the following evening from Holiday Inn near Universal, thus saving on 2 days car hire and in addition, 2 days Universal parking for a car that I don’t yet need. Perhaps that is why I have generally got what appear better car hire deals than most?

Hi thanks I am very cautious of this deal sounds to good to be true. If I turned up and was expected to pay silly amounts I would just walk away and Uber to hotel. Looking at ebookers at this moment for car hire alone they have some good deals that include zero excess damage insurance. More like pre pandemic prices , am I missing something.

Compulsory insurance may just be the bare minimum legally required, you’ll then pay a massive uplift at the desk to upgrade. I’d not risk it.

I can't see any mention of the most important insurance of all (in my opinion anyway). Supplemental Liability Insurance (aka Extended Protection aka Third Party Indemnity). You should have this cover for $1m
