We’re booked for next august. Have BA reward flights. We will visit Disney but I’m not sure yet where to stay. Currently struggling to see any particular advantages (aside from proximity) to staying onsite.

I don’t agree with the ‘stupid’ comment. I recently booked and paid a deposit for April ‘22 on the basis it was a good deal. I was very pleased with the price BA offered, which was over £2000 less than Virgin.
Given the low deposits and guarantees being offered, to risk such a small amount of money to hold a good price seemed a perfectly reasonable thing to do. The very worst case would be BA going bust, which I think rather unlikely. And even if they did, £250 is hardly the end of the world. |

We are intending to go in September next year.
Our thoughts are similar to yours but, we've decided life will go on and the world will adjust to this new situation. With regard to the high infection rate in Florida this will over time diminish. We have been realistic and decided to stay in the Disney bubble. We are not planning on traveling far beyond that area as we are not planning to rent a car for the full time. With regards to the Genie App and changes associated with this, I have asked via email to Disney if the App being launched is the full and final edition. With all things tech we are expecting some adjustments as it goes live. The app is designed to allow interaction with guests to assist them with their desired day so we would expect there to be additional changes and opportunities coming along that the Magic bands can't do. Perhaps I'm too far ahead of the curve with regards this thought but it's going to be interesting to see what happens over the coming months. This could be another reason why they appear to have cut back on the perks currently on offer by staying in a Disney resort hotel. As we all know Disney will be looking to use this as a marketing tool as well. We are being optimistic having stayed at home for the past almost 2 years shielding elderly relatives. I have a friend in China who have me the heads up about how dangerous the situation was in the January before lockdown so our precautions began ahead of everyone else. Let's hope things take a turn back to a more balanced situation and you get to go very soon. I can understand your frustration we have had many discussions about traveling even in the UK. I eagerly jumped in with a one person 5 day on-site booking with Disney for next July a few months ago. I’m not sure we will be going now though as the high number of cases in Florida, the high costs of flights and the introduction of Genie+ is all making it far less appealing.
We will wait until next year to make our final decision but we may feel it’s better to lose the £50 deposit and make plans for elsewhere next year instead |

Nope. Our feeling is that we have been lucky enough to experience the best of WDW many times and will not enjoy another trip the way things are now.

We were going to book for 2022 but have decided to push it back for a year or two, see how the wait times fare with the new genie+ system then do a big trip including Universal Studios too as a surprise for my Harry Potter crazy son. I really wanted to be there for the 50th but in all honesty my children won't care of they see the special celebrations, they will just be happy to be there.

Fully intend to go next summer. Making bookings on accommodation using pay on arrival or free cancellation where possible. Need to book villa still and flights but I'm a bit early still for the flights. Car hire looking like the potential sticking point price wise so far.
I won't be doing Disney parks but have come to realise there is a lot beyond Disney in Florida for us and the kids. I hope testing will be a thing of the past by then. |

Excited about Disney

Booked for last week in June first week July.
Last in Florida in 2017 plan would have been this year but didn’t even consider booking. I was feeling positive for next year but just can’t read what will happen. For us we go every 4/5 years. Last time stayed onside POFQ with dining plan, 3 adults one infant. Next year 3 adults one child it was costing us £1600 more than 2017 which I felt was good considering our youngest was only 2 last time oldest 11. So next time 7 and 16. We have actually since booking changed from POFQ to SSR So is a good £3000 more now 🙈. We very rarely get family holidays so I’m not going to moan about what we got in the past the perks etc this for us is about family time, relaxing at Resort, enjoying what we can do in parks. We have $200 voucher, dining credit which is better than nothing not huge eaters in heat so will just budget accordingly. We will happily try genie + not every day but once for every park. If we feel it’s not safe we will cancel or change but booked direct with BA and accommodation direct with Disney and will continue to pay it off monthly so if they or we cancel for me it means the money is there for the next trip and we then have another year to add to the pot maybe get Grand Floridian yet 🤣🤣🤣 |

Booked for end Apr and not lining Disney pockets any further, Universal and Discovery Ultimate, also not hiring car and paying ridiculous prices. Only put £150 deposit down and if for any reason things not going ahead then, my back up plan is Japan as DS loves Japanese culture and would love to. Would also visit Disney land Tokyo. This was my plan in 2024 for my 50th but if I have to I will just swap things about.
