Can you have two concurrent same date bookings with BA

Scenario

I decide to book a fly drive fly for say 7-21st August 2022. I pay BA a £250 deposit.

2 months later, I see the price has dropped £600.

Can I book the same fly drive for the same dates and have 2 live bookings?

Given it appears BA take around a week to process the initial cancellation, and it’s nigh on impossible to make phone contact, it’s likely the £600 saving would be gone by the time BA process the original cancellation and issue your £250 deposit refund.

Its for this reason why having 2 exact bookings would work in the short term. Once BA process the initial refund I’m guessing I could then apply the £250 refund to the new booking?

Is this possible?

Pretty sure you can’t book twice on the same flight with same names (called a dupe in the industry) we d have clients with flights held at other agency’s and the system wouldn’t let us book until their other seats were released
I have had two bookings with ba for the same dates but different flights/destinations

I had a similar issue with our October booking - flight prices dropped in the sale and I was desperately trying to find away round it
One of the reasons I ll be happy when October cancels

Yes you can as I had Florida and Greece booked for the summer.

Not sure though about applying a voucher after the point of booking - I guess it must be ok?

I’m not completely sure since things keep changing, but previously you could not apply vouchers to pay the balance of existing BA Holidays bookings, they could only be used against new bookings.

Actually I had flights booked and not fly drives - and the vouchers arrives almost immediately - given the cost of car hire, you would be better off booking flights only and then cancelling/rebooking as necessary...

That’s not the same flights though, which is the OPs query.

I’m sure I’ve read on here that you can a book on-line and then reply to your BA voucher email to have that voucher applied to your new trip. In my scenario the £250 would be applied to a new booking. I’m confused even more now - lol 😂

Edit - Obviously all academic if I can’t book the second identical trip.

Currently you can cancel for a FTV using the online form. This can take anywhere between a few minutes and 24 hours to come through via email.
Officially you can’t apply a voucher to an old booking but some people have had success, especially as you could argue the new booking was made after you applied for the voucher.

I did this today but it was flight only, so I knew I was getting an evoucher within a few minutes. I cancelled the original booking and then used the evoucher to book it again and got a £75 voucher back after the new booking was made.

So it sounds as you still need to wait for the voucher email to come through. I.e I could apply the voucher if it’s dated before I book a new trip on-line. I’m pretty sure people on here have had to wait up to a week to get a BA holidays credit note.

But surely this wouldn't be a new booking as you had already booked it?
Also, I believe the previous poster is correct that you can't have two bookings in the same name on the same flight.
