The sultan aftersun with repellent in does absolutely nothing. I know this after a week in Greece so would hate to think what would happen in Borneo.

Clothes and sleeping under a net is what you need, but a good DEET spray Is what you need for the hands, ankles, neck etc, fragrance is fine, the roll on isn't ideal for making sure you are all covered

I have DEET, and the roll on is so I dont have to get the DEET on my nails and wreck the shellac ill have on

I will be keeping covered with long trousers (tucked into socks for leeches) and and a long sleeved top.

I only bought that sun cream and repellent as an extra layer, and figured it might be better if i get dry skin or burnt than a scented moisturisor.

I did buy a shirt with the nosirepellent in, but I cant justify the cost of trouser when i already have a few pairs of walking trousers. Its too late to buy and spray clothes now andi didnt know you could do it yourself.

I asked the tour company and there are no nets but they spray the hotel grounds. If its anything like when we were in the amazon we barely saw any mosies in the grounds. we did have nets in the amazon, and i think i it were a real problem they would be there...

For Uganda I got Tescos own brand mosquito repellent high strength, it was fantastic. I bought it because it was highly recommended in lots of tests of different brands.

It does smell very strong, so spray yourself while standing outside but really does work. I also got some citronella sticks to burn as a repellent and these were very useful as well, especially for keeping the bugs away when we were sitting outside

Have a great trip 😊

I have read that picardin is as effective as deet. I have used it and it doesn't smell. I've only used it in the USA though.

Always swore by Bushmans when I lived in Australia (Granted it would melt flip flops!), mozzies tend to leave me alone anyway - but sandflies seemed to love me!
