Anyone used AVIS lately and NOT had any problems?

Seems like every time I read an AVIS post it's people complaining about bad experiences.
Having booked a BA flydrive into Miami and having AVIS car hire (normally use Alamo at MCO or SFB) I'm getting very concerned reading all your stories of bad experiences with AVIS. People not getting rental agreements or people getting billed directly rather than BA picking up the bill, lack of vehicles etc.
As a first time AVIS customer who has signed up to preffered I'm expecting to go straight to kiosk in the garage, be allocated my parking bay and vehicle, collect rental agreement with a $0.00 balance at the barrier.
I'm expecting to see a $100 hold on my CC.
Is there anything else I should be aware of, thanks guys?
Let's hear some good stories too, where people have had no issues.

Following with interest.

Thinking of booking with BA for next year and all these Avis posts are putting me off. Would be great to hear some positives.

If this post had appeared before yesterday, I would have said that we had no issues. We booked with BA taking advantage of the 7 days for the price of 5 offer. We were signed up to Avis preferred and went straight to garage at MCO. Name not on board, but car was ready for us. We prepaid tank of fuel and that was the only balance showing once the BA voucher was taken off. We returned car almost empty and a couple of days later got an email confirming just the tank of fuel. All good.
However, yesterday we got an email saying we had used the tolls and they were charging us $22.75. We were signed up to the Visitor Toll system, so this should have not triggered the Avis toll system. Will be following this up and hopefully will get it sorted out. Wouldn't put me off using Avis again though. Everything else was fine and the car was great.

I've used them on all my previous trips, and I'm using them again next month - I've never had any problems but then again I've always booked direct.
If it's your first time using preferred you will need to go to the kiosk in the garage but any further trips it your name will be on a board with a bay number, and it also may be worth checking which side of the terminal you need to go to (A or B).

This time I'm going to use the Visitor Toll pass so I assume long as you switch off the transponder tag in the car, then Avis wont charge you their admin fee plus tolls?

Someone can confirm but I think its number plate recognition not a transponder.

This is exactly what I will be expecting to happen when we arrive at Fort Laurderdale next Monday afternoon on a BA Flydrive.

However, after reading the recent posts I will be now expecting far from a smooth ride.

Will report back on our experiences at FLL once we're done there.

We’ve used them many times and have only had one issue. All went swimmingly as it usually does until after we were home when we received an email saying we owed toll money (we didn’t). The car reg they quoted as owing the money and being the car we used wasn’t the car we had. A couple of emails and the money was refunded.

We’ve used them again every year since that issue and are using them again next year. Would recommend them.

We arrive in Miami tomorrow night and so I will try to post our experience after that. Used Avis for the first time last year in Phoenix and everything was sort of fine. They didn't have any cars in the class we had reserved except a pick up truck or VW Beetle and DH wasn't keen on either so they gave us a Toyota somethingorother and it was technically the next class up so free upgrade.

One question though - I thought the BA rental was tank of fuel full to full but I keep seeing posts where people have paid for a tank of fuel - confused?

Avis rent out 1000's of cars a day... not everyone writes a positive review, you only ever hear the bad things.
