sized presents try now or wait till xmas?
if you buy presents that are sized do you wait till xmas and hope they fit ok or let them try it on now so you have time to replace it beforehand?
I've ordered some clothes for ds and I think they'll fit so will risk those but I've ordered dd a ring from pandora and had to guess the best size to go for so not sure if I should let her try it when it comes or wait and hope for the best? |

I always sized clothes against a pair of snug fitting pyjamas, and no-one will grow that much in 35 days. Assuming the ring can be changed after Christmas, just change it after Christmas. Don't spoil the surprise.

Might re-visit that 'no-one grows that much in 35 days' comment at the end of December

it was so much easier when they were little as you could try stuff and they would have forgotten by xmas and you could always buy a size up in clothes as they'd grow into it
Pandora returns are extended till Jan so I'd have time to change it afterwards though not sure if I can go in and exchange as I ordered online? |

My sister got my nephew (16) to try on an expensive T shirt she has bought him for Christmas yesterday in case it needed changing.
Lets say it went down like a lead balloon. He was actually upset and said he would have preferred it to be a surprise even if it needed exchanging after Christmas. He said he might not believe anymore but still gets excited for surprises. So from the voice of a 16 year old, keep them as surprises lol |

This is a well timed thread as ds tried on his new north face jacket this morning and it’s too small! I’m having to send it back and look at the more expensive men’s jackets
I’ve ordered him a Nike top from next which was going to be put aside for Christmas but now I’m thinking he ll need to try it on |

Lots of shops have extended their returns policy for Christmas. If DD's doesn't fit/likes I have until mid January to return.

For the last couple of years (when clothing became acceptable as a Christmas present) I have got my DS 17 to put a blind fold on before trying on any clothes or trainers. He is quite happy to do this, as it doesn't ruin the "surprise".
I was glad I did last year, because a rather expensive Ferrari jacket was way too big for him, it gave me chance to send it back and get a smaller one. He knew he had new football boots, but didn't know what they looked like until the day. This year I have let him see a few things, but with a couple of new T'shirts I just measured them against one that fits now.

I would measure against existing clothing for clothes sizes so that it remains a surprise. If it’s a brand they already wear you can also double check the size chart. Pandora, use an existing ring on their ring checker or if she has more pandora rings the size will be on the inside.
