How do I complain? Telephone installation
My husband had our virgin set up taken over and changed to sky and when the guy came to install he also installed a new phone thing however instead of installing it discreately at the bottom of the wall he installed it HALF WAY UP THE WALL! I now have my phone thing looking like it is sitting on display on our telephone table. I want it moved and my husband doesnt think its sky that I need to complain to. Why on earth he let the bloke leave after doing that and not telling him to redo it I dont know however now even if it is moved we will have a HOLE in our hall wall and wallpaper.
I cant find a number or anything to call about the mess they have made and it is driving me nuts. Does anyone have any ideas?

Not sure who you complain to but Building Regulations Part M, recommends that phone sockets should be between 450 and 1200mm above the floor. We have just had our house rewired and all sockets are now much higher and light sockets lower. It’s so that they are more accessible for wheelchair users. So this is the height phone engineers now install to, however it cannot be enforced in older buildings unless having a full rewire.
It looks odd but I’m used to it now Kate |

Where did you ask them to install it?
If you dont tell the specifically where you want it they will put it where it is easiest. If you do tell them, they will generally try to be accommodating within reason. All you can really do is call Sky and complain. Be polite and you might get somewhere. Edited at 07:42 PM. |

I let the Sky installer in at my daughter’s house and had to quite specific about what she wanted - he just wanted to do the easiest job possible, regardless of how it looked.

Had something similar, we called sky who arranged for BT to call us and sort the issue. Was pretty painless and sorted in a couple of days.

I think you need to complain to the company who organised the installation for you which in this case was Sky even though BT probably carried out the work.
We did the same move and the BT engineer said he had to install as close to where the old BT cables entered the house which was off the top of our garage roof and would have been halfway up the wall of our spare room! I basically had to bribe him to put it somewhere sensible but I got an extension for that too! |
