do railcards ever get discounted?

Hi all,

Just have a browse (as you do) on a lazy Sunday (its just started sleeting here, won't lie though).

If we fly from Gatwick, we'll take the train from Nottingham. Currently I'd pay full price for a 2together railcard, to get the best price for our train fare. Full price is £30. I recall when my DD was younger, there were times of the year I could get a discount off the family railcard, it was about £10 off or something like that. Does anyone know if the other railcards ever get similarly discounted, and when? I don't need to be looking at having my railcard until July-ish.

Keep an eye on money saving expert. They are often discounted, just never when I immediately need one! March rings a bell as we usually need on in Feb half term

I didn't know I could do that! I have vouchers to use (some expire this month) - I'm away to have a look!

Best we have ever got is 10% discount taking it to £27.

As above the Tesco club card points redemption is the best way and we've had it free for a couple of years.

thank you so much everyone, I'm glad I asked! Just used my Tesco clubcard vouchers to order a railcard, we'll be using it for DD's uni open days in summer/Autumn and maybe a trip to Gatwick airport for an October half term trip abroad .

I got my family & friends railcard using my tesco vouchers.
Paid £37 for all 4 of us from York to Kings Cross at Christmas on our way to DLP. Priced it up without the card and it was over £100 for us all. So worth getting any type of discount card.
