Diamondhead resort, Fort Myers beach

Has anyone stayed here recently?
We are currently booked into the Naples Grand Beach which looks lovely but just a bit remote but then dh starts looking again and finds FMB and the Diamondhead.
Ideally he’s looking for something like the sandpearl in Clearwater, great hotel on beach - walking distance to nightlife and restaurants and not dog friendly😉
To be honest part of me feels like giving up and going back to the sandpearl but I really wanted to try some where else and we have flights and car booked into Fort Lauderdale. We’ve got 10 nights so we could do a split stay or tour.
It’s our first proper holiday with no kids in 14 years and there’s just too much choice!

Not stayed in either of them but I know the area well. If you want to be right in the heart of things with bars, restaurants and nightlife within walking distance then Ft Myers beach and the Diamondhead Hotel fits the bill. It is a 3 star hotel rather than the 4 star of the Naples Grand Beach so will not be as fancy. You are near loads of things to do if you stay on Ft Myers beach as well as close to huge Malls, Sanibel & Captiva Islands and minutes from exploring the whole gulf coast. If you stay in Naples you are nearer the Everglades and some gorgeous swanky restaurants and bars and also near the huge Malls, Sanibel etc as Ft Myers and Naples are not far away from each other. Both areas are great and it really depends on your interests, budget and what you like to do on holiday. Hope this helps.
