I'm taking my Mum to Halkidiki for a week on May day. It'll be just the two of us.

A break from Florida this year

We are going for two weeks in August to Corfu, to a hotel that specialises in Radio Controlled Airplanes and Helicopters.
It’s far up in the hills in the centre of Corfu away from the tourist areas. It has around twenty rooms only so is never crowded.
For me( I’m the Radio Control Addict with 18 models of my own) the hotel has a fleet of over 50 models that you hire on a weekly basis after you’ve had a check flight from the instructors.
So on a typical day we both go for breakfast at around nine, then I head down to the hotels private hanger and runway, and fly the models along with other like minded guests. This stops at one, then it’s up to the bar yo meet up with the wife ( who has been sunbathing at the pool), have a quick bite for lunch then off out for the days planned trip if we choose ( price is included in the room rate)
No flying in the afternoons as the owner doesn’t want “ Toy plane Widows” moaning about being deserted by their hubbies
Last trip we went on a boat trip. There were 12 of us in three self drive speedboats! The owner set up a BBQ on a tiny island and we got back around 7.
Time for me to have a couple more flights, then irs bar and evening meals, which are prepared by the owners aunt. She is more of a cook than a chef, and prepares tremendous Greek home cooking.
So that’s an example of just one day.
We both love it, it’s isolated, quiet, we don’t read papers, don’t use internet, and just text home now and then to see if our son hasn’t torched the house
Totally different from Florida and a huge chill out.
We have been before and I didn’t even use the models, just switched off from the world

It's quite expensive, so I'm taking advantage of the great agents rate that I get to test the waters before booking anything any longer!

Currently sat on my balcony at Marina Suites Puerto Rico Gran Canaria.

For a short haul dose of sun in our winter you can't beat canaries and honestly this apartment/hotel is absolutely perfect.

I’m currently stockpiling bits for the Greek cat welfare society out there as we fed the cats x2 daily last time & I wanted to do more so emailed the Pefkos group & got a list of what they need most.
