Florida in Europe? Disney (Cruise) and Theme Parks - Day 11 - Villefranche, France
Thursday 27 August - Villefranche, France
Today’s port was in Villefranche near Cannes and Monaco and somewhere I hadn’t been before and was keen to explore. I dragged Harriet out of bed at 10 and to breakfast and then persuaded her to joining me in leaving he ship. Villefranche is a tender port meaning the ship anchors instead of docking and we had to get a tender / small boat to go ashore. We left the ship at 11.15 with our beach things and wandered around the very pretty town before spending about an hour on the beach and in the sea swimming with the fish. We had an ice cream and bought sweets, drinks including Harriet’s favourite Arizona ice tea and replenished some toiletries. We returned to the ship about 2pm and went to Cabanas the buffet for lunch. The beach (it was slightly bigger further round the bay) and the anchored ship, photos taken from the tender. After lunch we went to meet Captain America, Harriet took a selfie with him and I admired his boots (and his dimples!). In traditional for this holiday I then went to the Cove Pool and Harriet went back to the Edge to find her friends (the Squad!) Watched the sail away at 6pm on deck with a cocktail and then returned to the cabin to watch the rest of ‘Insurgent’ and get ready for Pirate Night! Disney had left us pirate Mickey bandanas to wear and chocolate gold! Dinner in Carioca’s again where the waiting staff made us serviette headwear and then onto the deck to watch the Pirate Night show, this involved Captain Hook and his crew taking over the ship before Mickey zip lined in to save the day. The show ends with fireworks in true Disney tradition and in the only firework show at sea. Not sure these should be made public!

Actually those are really lovely photos of you both!

We didn’t dock at Villefranche as the high winds prevented the tenders from running. Had a sea day instead and then Marseille the following day.
