Back to the Action Cam drawing board!

We bought a Kitvision Escape in a sale (reduced from £99.99 to £49.99) and I did some testing on it, playback on the LED camera screen seemed ok, but when played on PC or laptop, the start and end of the first few clips had pixelated green taking up a quarter of the screen, as we continued to record and test over the next couple of days, this got worse, taking up over half the screen for most of the shot and loosing sound.
My DS has returned it today for replacement, but they are now out of stock, so he's got a refund! I did wonder if the problem was being caused by the micro SD I used, but wanted to try the 'free' option of swapping the camera first.
We're now obviously back to square 1 of finding a budget but serviceable camera... any suggestions greatly appreciated

We have the GoPro session, pretty reasonable these days and it's served us really well so far! Its fully waterproof without having to have a clear case on which was a massive selling point for us.

for ~£100, the sj5000 wifi more than meets your needs:

amazon/SJCAM-Origi...1911997d3b5913

or if you dont want 4k, the sj4000 wifi for £60:

amazon/SJCAM-Multi...5b023b969af3f1

or, for a tenner less, the wifi-less sj4000:

amazon/SJCAM-Multi...be85c826577b45

i've got three of the original sj4000's and they easily match the equivalent gopro for quality

I have an SJ4000 and used it alongside a GoPro (SeaWorld loan) while filming for SeaWorld in Florida. I found the SJ4000 gave a more pleasing picture. A little more HDR than the GoPro so the images gave a nicer blue sky.

Thanks for the replies and recommendations... my DW got involved, so the choices changed and the budget went up! We ended up with a Veho Muvi K2 NPNG, which seems really good.
Just wondering if anyone has one, and if Gopro compatible (i.e. cheaper!) attachments will fit it?
