24 day trip. No Disney
We’ve booked our trip for 24 days. Been booked for months but now I’m beginning to worry about what we will do on non-park days.
The plan is to have universal tickets, discovery cove and aquatica but we didn’t enjoy Busch or seaworld this year and I can’t see us having the money for Disney tickets this time. We’re staying in a villa so can actually spend time relaxing with space for the boys rather than them being under each other’s feet. What cheap options for day trips or interesting things can dibbers suggest that 2 boys 9 and 13 might enjoy? Thanks

Just read a 7 day trip report, gatecrashing Mick and Joan, all non parks.
Loads to do, beachs, keys, Miami, Kennedy space centre, non ticket Disney, springs, resorts etc. Celebration, other towns and lazy villa days. |

We are having a more relaxing holiday this year( mostly non parks ). Only doing 3 things. Going to DC and KSC and We decided yesterday to just do a one day at Epcot, staying overnight. We are looking forward to actually exploring the area a bit more. I've always wanted to visit Celebration for example and never have. We may have a day to the beach if the mood talks us. Liking the idea of no fixed plans (apart from 3 days) and. Relaxing at the lazy river and wave pool at the hotel and we can go with the flow, which does not happen on a Florda holiday for us normally.

Casperson beach (just south of Venice). Take a Walmart sieve and ask the locals where to look. if you sieve the gravel, either on shore.. or better from knee deep in the sea, you will find fossilised Sharks teeth. Nearby is Sharky's Grill by the pier, good eats and there are always fishermen actually catching thing on the pier.
An airboat ride at Boggy Creek (by Kissimmee). Apart from the ride, at the start finish point is a Native American Indian camp, complete with an Indian who will explain native history, culture, weaponry, lifestyle and.. how they would hunt Alligators. Great fun and with very good humor. The man is a natural entertainer. Daytona Beach. Interesting place, very built up and with a lot about the Speedway. Old Town Kissimmee. Fantasy of flight, Polk City. A very interesting day with Kermit Weekes. Hope it helps!

we have often thought about a " holiday trip to Orlando " we have Marriott vacation club and they always have things happening at the resort BUT we always ask the question " would it be fun, knowing you are on the doorstep of WDW and not going " ? ? " look kids, this is what you could have had " springs to mind Maybe get a 5 day MYW ticket for the middle of the trip ? ? ? a WDW Waterpark AP ? ? ? |

As JessBlu says: "loads to do". It is not in the middle of nowhere - millions of people live there, and they don't do Disney, and they have all the leisure facilities they need. Disney doesn't even sell their 14/21 day tickets to anyone other than Brits, and there are 60million visitors of other nationalities each year. Every town and county in Florida has a web site that lists/describes the local facilities, leisure opportunities, events and what's on. There are hundreds and hundreds of pages of ideas available to you. I recommend a bit of browsing and googling. Dibb posts are only a few lines long and can only ever barely scratch the surface of the vast amount on offer.

We have done a few 28 day trips with no Disney, there is so much to do that’s it’s not really a problem!
We don’t fell we have missed anything and do nip to springs and a couple of resorts for a character meal. We like to have a few days away, we have visited San Agustine for a few nights, that was brill, stayed in Tampa then gone to Busch Gardens For a couple of days and visited places like boggy creek and the big cat rescue centre. It’s such a massive place we have spent so much time there and not seen 90% of it! |

My 2 loved a trip to see a baseball game. The first time we went to see the Tampa Bay Rays v the New York Yankees but they enjoyed our cheap and chearful trip to see the local team in Lakeland just as much
