Remind me of the patients ... I watched them all but get confused about which one was in each episode.

I think it’s was : man with prostate cancer - his initial readings of PSA (the marker) were positive in that they had constantly been in the rise but had dropped. However you only saw his immediate follow up and they said the trial would take some time to conclude whether it was successful

The man with the ear implant - v successful in terms of working. It seemed he still had some quite bulky amplifiers attached to his skull behind his ear, but it may be that one of those was for his original implant in case the trial failed. Certainly in terms of his hearing the result seemed miraculous.

Was there a third ?

It's brilliant. First two were breathtaking but personally I didn't think the 3rd was as good. Still interesting but the first two were amazing

First week was the lady who virtually had half her face removed. Second week was the lady with the massive tumour. The ear implant was week 3

I haven’t checked if it’s on catch up but the first 1 is repeated on February 1st.

Thank you, I’m glad they were successful and hopefully the prostate cancer man is still doing well. The third one was the American lady that had the liver transplant.

The liver transplant was the third case on the final episode. We hadn’t seen the others but my sons nurse told us it was on and was showing a liver transplant so we watched it as ds is on the waiting list for a liver transplant. The surgeon doing the op on the tv is one of the surgeons who might perform my sons op!

Oh yes, the liver transplant, which was not immediately from a ‘live’ donor. Yes, that was also successful and that lady looked remarkably well on discharge.

Danisleigh - we are in the north but I know 2 people who have been sent to Birmingham and have had very successful liver transplants. One of the people previously had a kidney transplant due to polycystic kidney syndrome, which later moved to the liver & required a liver transplant as well. This was 15 years ago (the other person having the liver was just last year). Both ladies are now living life to the full - both have made significant house moves and frequently travel abroad.
