So per £1000 of spending money, you are talking around $50 extra, so not a huge amount to rush out and panic
It's good to know that you think an extra $50 is not worth worrying about, would you refuse it if someone offered you it on the street?

I would take it if someone was giving it to me. I would be happy if I got $50 extra spending money, but I would worry about it if I didnt. In reality, $50-$100 is not much compare to the whole holiday.
We realised after the Brexit vote that its not worth worrying about the exchange rate. Our holiday went up £500 over night as our hotels were to be paid on arrival and we were using credit card for spending money for a holiday a few weeks later.

Compared to the average cost of a holiday to Florida, $50 is nothing

It's because of the cost of the holiday, I will try to squeeze all I can for spending money, be it $50 or $500, it's all free money.

We're all different. We have a fairly tight budget and only take around $800 spending money for 2 weeks, so $50 is quite a chunk of that (albeit, the $50 is based on $1000) and I would be rushing to get that. We're not even booked yet and are planning on going Oct 2019, so I ordered half our $ yesterday. The cost difference between 1.3 and 1.4 on $800 is £44, which will pay for our Premier Inn the night before, so thats a plus, and worth it in my book as I need to make our budget stretch as far as possible to get the holiday we want

Back up to 1.43, seems to be stabilising a bit now. I'm still now going with we might well see the 1.50s again by summer.

It's called hedging, but I think you are panicking a bit. Your money tied up in dollars for that length of time? Historically it's still on the low cusp of where it should be. I'd be very surprised if by October 2019 it's not at least in the 1.50s.

Yeah, I hedged last year and lost out. I'm happy with half at what I've got and will see what happens for the rest. Brexit is such an unknown quantity and this is the highest it's been for a while, but I'm certainly not panic buying. Will be lovely if you're right about 1.5 by next October though, but as I don't have a crystal ball I went for what I know and am happy with now

After its pegging back, another good run. 1.41 today. Will we see it creep up over the previous high of 1.43 over the next few days/ weeks?
