What happens to your fastpasses if you cancel your Disney resort stay?
Hi All,
We are planning on visiting In May of this year. We are going to book a few nights at a Disney resort but will stay the rest of time at a Villa. As friends are staying at the villa as well we are essentially paying for two sets of accommodations (splitting the cost). So my question is if we book our fastpasses at 60 days then cancel the hotel booking do we lose our fastpasses? I want a few days in the bubble but DH is not loving the idea of spending the extra when we already have accommodations... So it may be a late decision! |

The FPs will cancel with the booking.

Hi,
In September we were booked into AKL and had our 60 day fastpasses, but then our holiday was completely changed due to Hurricane Irma and our AKL booking was cancelled. We kept all of our ADRs and Fastpasses that I had already booked. I manually went into MDE and cancelled them all so that someone who was there could use them. Ours may have been a special circumstance though, due to the hurricane. If you already have the Disney accommodation booked you may not get a refund anyway. Could you sell it to your DH as 'market research' and you want to check out the on-site options for the future? Or maybe that you though it would be nice to have a couple of nights alone together, and give your friends some space too?

FP will remain. The FP system only knows about your hotel to allow 60 day bookings. Once booked that is ignored so they wont cancel.

Thanks all! I think I have DH convinced that staying on Disney will be worth the cost. i really do not want to cancel but as a compromise may change the booking from 3 nights to 2 . The things we do for love lol!

I cancelled a recent stay and all of my fast passes remained in place.

So am I right in thinking (after reading the throwaway booking thread) that you could effectively book a night in a Disney property at the start of your holiday, obtain the 60 day fast passes, then cancel and still keep them? If you book via the US Disney site it offers free cancellation right up to a few days before.

I had wondered this.

You certainly could do that. But will lose the Magic Bands and Free Parking. Plus it is a bit morally wrong isn't it? As you are then getting something you haven't paid for.

Definitely wouldn’t feel ‘right’ to do this. Even booking a night at the campsite to get the 60 day fast passes, magic bands and free two day parking when the pitch will not be needed doesn’t sit great with me. But will there be any fast passes for 7dmt and Avatar at 30 days?
Surprised Disney haven’t stopped this loophole really. |
