Really pleased for you as I've read your previous threads over the past couple of years about how unhappy you were in your job and felt stuck in a rut. This is definitely a positive move in the right direction

Thank you hoping it should have a positive swing on my home life as well, as I hated the fact I used to bring my negativity back home!

Well just an update on this one, I accepted the job offer, handed my notice in last Monday, gave my 4 week notice...

Today I have had a call saying the job is no longer available due to one their big contracts pulling out of future work! He said he may be able to offer me some work elsewhere in the business but this is likely to only be part time and/or lower wages than I'm now!

I'm furious, I now have to go and speak to my manager and ask if I can retract my resignation, which I know they don't have to accept, and my not as they will know I will end up continuing to look for other work in the field I want to go into.

Did you receive a signed contract before you handed in your notice?

I did receive an e-mail with the job offer with an area to sign, the guy who interviewed me said that was just for me and I didn't need to sign and return it if I didn't want to... That's my mistake I guess as I should have signed and returned, I did intend do but just didn't get round to it last week.

Even still if I had of returned and signed it I don't think it was an actual contract just a job offer, so if they don't have the work to offer me in that role then I don't know where I'd stand anyway as it states in the job offer they can let you go for any reason and give you one week notice during the 6 month probation period...

Either way it's put me in quite a difficult situation, I mean luckily I do get on with my current manager, but it looks very unprofessional of me, and looks like I am messing them around, especially as I am going to continue to look for other work.

Can you tell them you haven’t felt right about it since handing in your resignation and you think it was the wrong decision and want to change your mind?

That’s what I’m planning to say when I get to speak to my manager, just hope they accept my retraction, otherwise I have 3 1/2 weeks to find a new job with a young family to look after!
