Digital Detox - how long could you survive?

The inspiration for this thread was triggered by an article on BBC news (See here)

It made me wonder how long dibbers think they could survive if someone took away all their smart devices and gave them a very basic phone with no apps or internet connection.

Remember, this is the only device you are allowed - no tablets,PDAs,computers of any description...So no access to the web or any form of social media.

I have done this and lasted a couple of days..but it wasn't easy!

Come on dibbers - be honest

Over to you

NOTE: Results will be public!

When I go away for a couple of weeks I don't use it at all, I even switch my 'phone off.

As long as I have a stack of books, I'm happy ...

As an older person, and as much as I love the internet, I've never really been sucked into that vortex and don't plan to, ever ...

One of my friend's husband recently died. One of the 'clearing up' things she has done is cancel the broadband, she says she doesn't need it. She has a 5 year old second hand basic mobile 'phone. She manages to live

In a moment of genuine sincerity I doff my hat to your friend.

In our house if I cancelled the BB everyone else would move out.

Now there is a thought

I've gone up to 8, however when we go on a cruise we have no internet access for most of the week and I manage that fine but it's different if you're on holiday.

Just day to day at home I think 8 would be my limit.

I dibb because its there, if I have no access I can go without the internet indefinitely-ish.

People would get fed up of not being able to get me on email I guess - but that is about 4 or 5 people. And I'd need to have access every other month for the bills/insurance and stuff like that. But that is because THEY make the system like that - not because I want to.

But social media - including the forums I can do without for a very long time (I've been a member on here since 2008, but was not on for so long between then and last year I forgot my old login details)

I don't own a smartphone. I don't even take my phone out with me most of the time. Sometimes I am totally un-contactable... bliss.
