A lovely walk

This morning when out with the dogs and the 2 elderly relatives who are with us for the foreseeable and our grandson we picked brambles ( blackberries ) and baked some pies this afternoon both remember picking them every autumn along with sloes and crab apples in the late 40s / 50s even into the 70s
Crabapple jelly made and they and my sister are in charge of the sloe gin making
A simple cost us nothing afternoon which they and I can remember picking berries shared with another generation

Gosh, this takes me back to my childhood in the 50s. We used to stay out rambling all day with jam butties & a pint of milk for lunch. Came home covered in blackberry stains with loads of fruit. My Mum used to soak them overnight in Golden Syrup & bake pies the next day, which we’d share with neighbours. I can still remember the taste. Yum yum.
