What is this?

DS5 bought this home from school on Friday but I don’t know what it is! It’s shot up since Friday as it was only mud then. Want to care for it properly as he’s very excited to see it grow.

Probably a “growing bean” as that is what we used to do at school way back - goggle and youtube will offer you tips on how to look after it (or replace it when it dies and he doesn’t notice lol)

Edited at 09:22 AM. Reason: Spelling/autocorrect

I have a 4ft high God awful fir tree in a tub outside our front door.

When my Granddaughter was 4 or 5 she went with the School to Sherwood Forest and they all came home with a 4" sapling.

That got put in the door pocket of her Mums car for 2 Months until I found it and felt sorry for it.

I potted it up and 5 years later it's now big. I hate it as it's a 'forest tree' but she keeps asking after it.

When DH and I were not long married we "stole" a really young sapling from our local wood (I know, bad). We planted it in our garden. Over the years it go so big. This year DH decided to build a summer house/new patio area and this tree was right in the way, and to be honest wasn't the nicest of trees, so he cut it down and was left with this huge tree root. What a job he had getting rid. He managed to dig enough to get to the top of the roots, brought the Manitou home from work and put a huge chain round the roots, extended the boom and pulled but it didn't even budge. I then came up with the idea of burning it - again another fail. He had to eventually had to keep digging and using the chainsaw. Took him hours and hours

Well you’ve all convinced me not to plant it in the garden!
