From Moderate to Value...
I have always stayed at a moderate hotel, POFQ and POR, really hope to go back September 2021. I doubt we will have enough funds for a Moderate and probably will need to go to a Disney Value Hotel. I’m so worried as the moderate we have stayed in have been brilliant for our needs, great pools food court and peaceful., I’m worried how the Values will compare. My son and husband both have walking issues and my som with asd, is very noise sensitive. I just worry so much as I have never stayed in a Value. It would be great to hear from anyone who have stayed in both and give me their opinions, sorry for the long post.

Value tend to have better QS food courts, but the rooms tend to be much smaller. If staying on the dining plan, the difference between Value and Moderate can be very small when food is taken into account.
Also bare in mind that the prices are going to plummet in a few months when the pound bounces back to $2-£1 lol

I've stayed in Deluxe/equivalents, a Moderate (full disclaimer - only for one night), and Values.
Personally I'm extremely happy with staying at Pop. The food court is pretty decent, and AoA is just across the bridge so there's also the AoA food court available. Pools seem decent (I don't go swimming normally on WDW trips, so not used them personally). There is a bit of noise, but it's not too bad. On my last trip most of the noise was from kids running in the room above, so I suspect if you get a top floor room then it might be quieter. In terms of walking issues, the downside with Pop is that it is a huge resort. However if you book a preferred room then it will be closer to most facilities. The same holds true for the other Values (All Stars) - preferred rooms will generally be closer to most facilities. Main exception is AoA, as if you only want a single room (rather than the family suite) the only single rooms are in the Little Mermaid block which is the furthest block from the main hall. Honestly, for the price point I'm extremely happy staying in a Value. Every time I plan a trip to WDW I consider going for a Deluxe or a Moderate but I just can't make myself pay the extra cost for either, when I know I'll be perfectly happy at Pop...

I have stayed at two moderates and two values.
Both times we stayed at moderates was because after the upgrade to QSDP, the difference was almost negligible. For us we approach this question the exact same as the question about Premium Economy and Upper Class on a flight, for us it really doesn't appeal, it is just a seat and it is just a bed. The real experience for us comes from the time spent away from our resort. So I would always pick the cheapest on site hotel and upgrade dining to meet our needs, if that was the same price as the next hotel tier I would book a better hotel only in that case. That being said, some nice perks of Coronado Springs as opposed to All Star Music; 1. Much nicer food court if you decide to eat at the hotel. 2. Better loungers at the pool. 3. More bus stops, so a bus stop closer to your room. 4. Gym etc if that's your thing 5. Room was a bit tired in ASM - motel feel. |

Thanks so much for all your help and advice, we would like the quick service plan if it is offered, so I will see the price difference, if it is offered in April. I will just have to be patient and keep my fingers crossed, if not I will definitely be staying at a Value and add on the plan, I find it easier to budget my money. I did like the look of Pop Century and it’s a good tip to ask for a top floor.

Oh one more thing to add about Value hotel rooms - WDW started refurbishing Value hotel rooms in 2017.
All of Pop Century has been refurbished. I'm not 100% certain of the All Stars but I think All Star Movies has been refurbished and All Star Music is partway through, while refurbishment hasn't started yet at All Star Sports (I could be wrong). AoA hasn't yet been refurbished. There is a huge difference between a non-refurbished and a refurbished Value room. The refurbishment included these things: - Changed from carpet to hard floor - Changed from smaller TV sets to huge flatscreens - Changed from two double (?) beds to one regular queen sized bed + one pull-down queen sized bed. When the pull-down bed is left up, it converts into a pretty large table and opens up a lot of floor space. - Added a small "food" area with mini fridge, coffee maker. - Changed the safes from a vertical wall safe, to a large horizontal safe inside one of the cupboards. - Changed from curtains to sliding doors for the sink and toilet areas. - Bathrooms completely redone. Some have been changed to shower only, some still have a bathtub. - Added a ridiculous number of wall sockets and USB charging points to the room. I think there were at least 8 wall sockets and 10 USB charging points (if not more) in the room I stayed at a couple of months ago. They also changed the entire decor of the room, and I want to say that they must have added more lighting to the room as the refurbished rooms definitely feel brighter than the non-refurbished rooms. Basically, this refurbishment massively increased the comfort level of staying at a Value for me. I think I actually enjoy the refurbished Pop rooms as much (or more) than the room I had at CSR (admittedly only for a night), just because they are so comfortable after the refurbishment. They were definitely less comfortable pre-refurbishment...
