Food at the Rose & Crown
I've booked an ADR at the Rose & Crown for dinner at 6:40 so that we can hopefully get a table to view the fireworks. What I'm wandering is what is the food like? In terms of is it really tasty or just ok? I'm not too bothered about eating here if the food isn't up to much. We could always get a fish and chip takeaway and watch the fireworks somewhere else. Thanks

Personally I wouldn't pay for it. It's acceptable if you're on DDP, but there's no way I'd pay OOP.

It's an American version of English food and like nearly everything else on property it's overpriced.

I haven't eaten there, but why not check out the Dibb reviews and watch some you tube videos? We have thought about doing the same ourselves.

I had sausages and mash. It was OK, but the sausages didn't taste like sausages as we know them.

I don't get why brits would go to rose and crown when there's so many other places to eat.
6.40 is probably too early to be waiting to see fireworks too, unless you plan to take a very long time to eat each course. |

Thanks for all your thoughts. I'll probably cancel the booking as I wasn't that keen on going & the comments have helped me make up my mind! 👍🏼

I had fish and chips there last year and was so sick afterwards. Not saying it was food poisoning, but it was very greasy and i think combined with the heat wasnt good. It was a fortune compared to the takeaway outside, wont eat there again.
