Never ever put it in the hold.
As above, it will get bashed about like nobody's business. Also, your case would almost definitely get searched by TSA. Make sure it has battery as sometimes you get asked to turn it on/off again at security. Do you really need to take it? Would a tablet suffice? |

I wouldnt need it on the plane for outbound, only inbound!
I need to take it for transferring camera footage and editing for my Tube channel haha But would only need it on me for the return and not for outbound - so just wondered. It has a cushioned holder and i would put it in the middle surrounded by clothes...that was my thinking anyways but it might not be worth the risk...lol

Never - depends how much your laptop is worth to you. Most of not all my electricals will go with me in handheld.
With VA you’re allowed your hold-all and a laptop bag so I’ve never had a problem anyways.

Even with padding & clothes, I wouldn't put it in the hold.
Any valuables, keep them on your person! |

A big NO from me - if it was damaged or went missing on the outbound you wouldn't be able to do anything on the return. Also you couldn't rely on your travel insurance to pay up in the event of a claim.

unless its a very old laptop, it will have a lithium ion battery and they are not allowed in hold luggage.
