When to buy dollars
I notice the dollar rate is up again, we go next month and I'm wondering whether to hold out or bite the bullet and order tonight from John Lewis who are offering 1.40 if I order online.

I would buy some now (I have) at $1.40 and depending on when you are going perhaps hold on to get more nearer the time.

The general rule is buy when you are happy with the rate.

After the performance of the pound versus dollar in recent months I think 1.40 is a good rate but it has to be your choice

We don't go till 10th May so got a couple of weeks yet. It's been rising slowly but it's being brave enough to hang on as I don't want it to dip sharply and lose out!

I agree with the dibber who said "if you are happy with the rate then buy. I bought this week at $1.40, happy with the rate and we don't go until September. Last year's rate foe us was $1.23.

I am happy with the rate, but would be a bit cheesed off if it rose again and I missed out!
