Looks like we’re missing our flight! Any advice

Currently sat on the runway at Miami in a thunderstorm. We were meant to take off an hour ago. We are flying Miami-Atlanta-Manchester. They’ve said the flight will be 1.25 minutes. Atlanta to Miami flight is 6pm. Captain just been on and said they’ve opened up the flight path but unsure where we are in the queue for take off. Looks unlikely we’ll make the flight. Anybody been in this situation before? Obviously only 1 flight a day to Manchester with virgin. We are currently on delta flight. Just wondering what we need to do in Atlanta. We have special assistance with our son in a wheelchair too so unfortunately last off the plane 🙈

2 1/2 hours until our flight in Atlanta and still sat in Miami 🙈

book yourself a hotel room at/near Atlanta airport, so that if you do miss your flight tonight you'll at least have somewhere to sleep.

Me too! We are back to work Monday so would be a nightmare having to wait for the flight tomorrow. Not much we can do but wait. But with some information on what we could do when we get to Atlanta would be great from people with experience. Hope the virgin representatives are helpful when we land.

There are lots of hotels near the airport
My advice is get one as close as possible and not one of the dodgy one further away

Just outside the airport are all the hotel shuttle buses

Assuming it's a through ticket, there should be special assistance in Atlanta so you can get through to your flight as quick as possible. The flight attendants on the flight to Atlanta will be able to help. If you cannot make the Atlanta-Manchester flight, the airline has a duty of care to arrange your flight home, though may not be the next one. They have a duty of care to provide food vouchers and a hotel if required . Hope this helps. Unfortunately had this the last 2 trips to Orlando.

Speak to the flight crew before and during your flight, They can give you a special "pass" on landing to get you to your gate as quick as possible. If you are too late for your flight there should be someone near to where you disembark at Atlanta who will book you onto the next available flight and issue you with hotel/meal vouchers. Remember to ensure they cover your taxi fees if required to/from the airport. Hopefully you won't need this info and will make your flight to Manchester okay, Fingers crossed and good luck!

I do hope you make it. My advice is to ask your cabin crew what will happen when you get on your first flight. We flew home from Vietnam on Thursday on a through ticket with Thai Airways, our first flight was delayed by an hour and we only had a 80 minute layover in Bangkok (due to the airline changing the flight time after we booked) anyway so we felt we had no chance of making the connecting flight after the initial delay. However, THAI Airways held back our connecting flight by 45 minutes and ushered through the airport quickly so we caught the flight. I thought this was excellent service by Thai Airways.
