Avis Preferred - charged for fuel once back in UK

We have just returned from Florida. Returned the car to Avis at MCO, with a full tank of fuel as agreed when picked the car up. Avis staff member checked the car and issued a receipt for no charges. Have been home 4 days and the credit card has been charged for £127 for refuelling.
We have a receipt for when we filled the car 20 mins before we returned the vehicle. Anyone else had a similar issue?
We have emailed Avis, still no reply as yet!

Give them a week to reply and sort it, then if not resolved pass to your credit card company with evidence as unauthorised and let them sort it for you.

Sadly this is not uncommon.

Yes they have done this to us twice, although they said it was for additional insurances, first time was last November they took £140 it took nearly 5 months of me constantly emailing them before I got a full refund but no apligogie. In May they took £103 and I have only just got it back but it was BA that refunded as I emailed them telling them it was a flydrive and therefore I should not have any additional charges

OP. £127 is much more than fuel.

They have put something else on your booking. Insurance and roadside assistance I suspect.

You can see your full invoice here.

Would normally agree with that though the price avis charge for non prepaid fuel is outrageous.

See my receipt...

I'm waiting for them to try charging me for $0.3 of a gallon.

Avis charge a lot for fuel, they tried to charge us $124 last week at Tampa even though the car was full. Luckily I spotted it and complained although there is still a mystery “pending” amount that has appeared on our credit card.

We have been caught out before by Avis, in the end our credit card company sorted it. Very sneaky of Avis I think as it seems to happen a lot, especially when you are trying to get your luggage and kids out of the car so your mind is on other things.
