I know my kids will go mute, I’ll end up having to do the talking and say something stupid.
The characters will keep coming, you will have to interrupt your meal.

We have no interest in talking to characters as we are two forty-something adults. I like getting the photos and they pick up on that instantly, do photos and move on, which works for us. You don’t need to force yourself to talk, if your children don’t want to just suggest a photo.

We did six days in May and I felt we did way too many character meals and buffets trying to make the most of only having 6 meals. Character meals are great but it’s good to mix it up. My advice is to vary it. Pics in my 2019 food report in my signature below.

we're doing 6 nights and have 3 character meals booked
chef mickeys -ds choice
crystal palace -dd choice
Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends- this one is new and la carte rather than buffet which I prefer

There are some characters at meals you probably won't see in the parks so might be worth looking at meals with them rather than characters you can meet elsewhere.

Just looking at the Akershus menu- my 12 year old eats adult portions in the U.K., but there is nothing he would eat on the adult Akershus menu. Are the children’s portions big enough? Or should we ditch the idea?

Most places will do you an adult portion of a kids meal if you are on the dining plan. Its also usually possible to make changes to most set meals for fussier eaters - get the sauces on the side or sub the sides for something else like fries for example.

Really stupid question alert: would the restaurants do fries if they are not on the menu? When I say we struggle with the kids’ food , I mean we REALLY struggle.
