Thanks for your advice everyone the premier inn is my favourite. It is booked up through most 3rd parties but I really wanted to finalise parking before we book.
My ideal is to park the car at the cheaper north terminal carpark on the day before we travel then use the shuttle to get to the airport in the morning but it's the return I'm concerned about. I'm not 100% certain of the ease of getting to the north carpark from south terminal on our return.

We’ve just returned. We stayed at Holiday Inn, Povey Cross. Your car stays in the back (their own car park) - you do hand over your keys but your car stays onsite. Great hotel! £8 per adult return bus to terminal, kids are free. picked us up right outside hotel lobby and drops right outside terminal - both South and north. Bus constantly runs so you’ll only wait 5-10 minutes tops, took about 5 mins from hotel to airport.
We went from south and hotel including 14 nights parking cost £135 |

For peace of mind. I would, like other posters, recommend Long Stay South as we will never leave our keys.
It is only a short bus hop away and feels like its onsite. It's so close we drop our overnight bags back in the morning. Gatwick airport feels smaller and more enclosed than Heathrow so many of the onsite hotels are very close. We personally love the BLOC and if I hadn't got a great rate for there. I would have gone for the PI this year. For reference we got 18 nights and BLOC for £157 last week Edited at 11:42 AM. |

We have the same issue. First time flying BA and from Gatwick in 25 years! We have gone for the Hilton. Triple room for 3 adults (DD will be 18) was £229 with breakfast. We usually stay at the Radisson at Manchester and this is cheaper than a family room there. I plan to book the long stay parking where you keep your keys. I think it was £120 for 16 nights last time I looked.

Booked into Courtyard by Marriott this coming Thursday for £60 room only and booked car into the Long Stay (keep keys), which is next to the hotel for just under £40 for 8 days.
DH won’t leave his car keys with anyone so we are always limited with parking. You can also walk to the South terminal at Gatwick from the hotel too. |
