We got one for our son in Manchester last year & it was amazing even used it in Portugal & Las Vegas, Although I'm not sure they knew what it was in Vegas, we asked to avoid the que in immigration, my son has Down Syndrome.

Our son had the sunflower lanyard (ADHD + autism). We waited over an hour in the queue at MCO - with quite severe behaviour all the way along (the worst was the disapproving comments from other tired passengers, including some in our party...). When we got to the front of the line the security guard told us that we could have fast-tracked but there were literally no members of staff until the very front of the queue and we were in a big group of 12, so we weren't sure we would all have got through together. After this my son had a major melt-down next time I will contact the airport in advance, to ensure that staff are there to meet us. I think it was really helpful on the plane though - purely to get other people to show a little more tolerance!

Please can anyone tell me more about the yellow lanyard. My DS is 11 and for the last few trips has become so anxious from the moment he gets to the airport to arriving in Florida. He goes pale, anxious to the point he is sick. Would a lanyard ease this for him. This year we are flying LHR to JKF to Tampa and back via Atlanta, Delta/Virgin, so quite a few plane changes and new airports. He doesn't have a disability but extreme anxiety when travelling. Any advice gratefully appreciated.

We travelled yesterday, we thought we had forgotten lanyard but got a replacement easily at Heathrow. We paid for fast track security which was great. American Airlines were great with priority boarding and also at JFK, all went so smoothly!
I think the fast track was well worth paying for at Heathrow.

I contacted Heathrow and have received 2 lanyards in the post today. I have also been in touch with Virgin who were really helpful too. So glad I saw this thread.

Hi. I'm really pleased I found this thread. I have requested a lanyard for Gatwick for my daughter who has autism. Someone upthread suggested that if you are flying with BA you may be able to request to be sat together without having to pay the usual pre-booking fees. Does anyone know who you would contact about this? Many thanks.

Try contacting BA via their website or ring them. I have contacted Virgin as we are flying Virgin/Delta - I contacted their Special Assistance to find out what service they offer. We don't need wheelchairs or being escorted etc. I have paid to pick seats together rather than risk it but we are codeshare with Delta from NY to Tampa so Virgin suggested also contacting Delta to make our Hidden disability lanyard known to them. Virgin have offered to preboard us if we get to the gate early, ahead of the main cabin, if we want this to get settled. Often they don't split up a family but if you don't pay for seats in Virgin/Delta then the risk is across the aisle, seats infront or behind.
