We have been to loads of Baseball games in Florida, Arizona and California and have done both Major League and Minor League. Baseball isnt so much a spectacle but more of a social event as mentioned by another dibber. We find friends and family use the games as a meeting place. Ive never seen either cheerleaders or bands at baseball games, basically the teams come on , play the game and then everybody goes home at the end of the game. Personally we love the baseball, love the game and the very laid back nature of the event. We went to Tampa Buccs for the football a couple of years ago and hated every minute.

I'll get Chris to reply tonight, since he's the one that normally deals with those! I *think* when we go major leagues, he goes via Stub Hub, and minors just from the team/stadium site, although, I don't think I've ever been to a match that's sold out. Minors in particular you can probably just pay on the gate.

One of my happiest game day memories is getting a fly ball at the Marlins game!

Buy from Stubhub - there will be a large supply of re-sale tickets for each game right up to the game itself, so there's no rush to buy. In fact it may be better to wait until late on as people lower their prices to try and secure a sale. You won't need to print the tickets, you will be able to scan on your phone.

You will pay significantly less on Stubhub than you will buying from the Marlins themselves, meaning you can either pay less or get better seats for the same amount of money you were prepared to spend.

I've also not seen cheerleaders nor bands at baseball, but "theme nights" are quite common where there will be giveaways or similar.

As others have said - there is almost always something going on between each inning (9 innings for each team) to keep the crowd entertained and involved.

Whether you're into baseball or not, it's a great experience and one you're unlikely to regret sampling.

If you aren’t mad keen on baseball, you will probably enjoy a minor league game more... smaller stadiums, more intimate, and much cheaper.
Just for the record Tampa have big issue with very low crowds so often close off large sections of stadium, plus the stadium itself is out of town and showing its age.

The Rays are moving out of the Trop and moving into the new Ybor Stadium in the next few years, I can’t blame them for moving, I’ve been to the Trop a few times and I can say it’s not my favourite ballpark. There seems to be no atmosphere inside the park and it’s weird looking up and seeing a massive roof.

I heard the Ybor Stadium project was cancelled so they are staying at Tropicana Field for now.

Correct - the proposed stadium was cancelled almost as soon as it was announced.

I would t go to watch the Rays as an introductory baseball experience - it really is a soulless event.

Yes absolutely, I don’t like the stadium for atmosphere, give me Fenway or Citi Field any day. I’ve been lucky to visit quite a few ballparks and I hope to eventually get around them all.
