Alamo Rates Inclusive Of Repair/Recovery?
Do you know whether an Alamo rental includes repair or recovery as standard? If not, would you pay extra for that service through Alamo or take out a policy to cover it before travel?
I'm concerned primarily about minor things like a flat tyre over there as am a woman travelling alone and probably wouldn't be able to fix it myself should that happen.

Hi. Repairs are the responsibility of the car hire company so if for example the car won’t start they bring a new one out to you on a low loader and take the other one away. No cost to you at all.
Punctures are your responsibility to change the wheel or as you say take out the enhanced roadside assistance package. If you do take it they will sort you out. Normally by just bringing a new car out to you. My advice is to get a DIY policy from a UK broker like Money Maxim etc. It will be half the price of the rental companies coverage. But you pay the rental company to sort you out and claim off the broker when home.

Thanks Mr Tom Morrow! A look at their website only shows policies to cover European Breakdown unfortunately so any other ideas welcomed.
UPDATE - I think it's covered under a general car hire excess policy for the US? My bad for not really understanding the product.

Yes an excess policy should cover it but do check the T & C's well.
DuncanB one of the experts on here uses this American Company. enhancedroadsideassistance/faq.aspx

My Virgin Holidays hire car (at the Gold cover level) includes 24/7 Roadside Assistance so if you're hiring through them that may help.

Sorry but that 24/7 roadside assistance is just what Alamo provides to all customers ref a break down. It's not for punctures or misfuelling/lost keys etc.
Basically it's what all rental companies Worldwide do to namely look after their asset. It's very badly worded on the Virgin website and misleads people.

But does that cover them dealing with a puncture to get you going again?

This is what is on the policy, a)damage to the rental vehicle including damage to the windows, windscreen, tyres and wheels, headlights, the undercarriage or the roof. b) loss of use of the rental vehicle due to damage. c) towing costs relating to damage or towing costs following a mechanical breakdown. |

Thats good coverage for a decent price ref the damage to undercarriage/ roof etc.
However it doesn't cover punctures which is what enhanced roadside assistance does and is essential for certain drivers such as the OP. Now it could be a play on words so if you kerb the wheel and trash the tyre that could be construed as damage but I don't think it does what is needed. Maybe one for others to join in with their views?
